Locations

All the locations on Berk and any other islands/locations shown in the movies, short films, or the tv series.

The Isle of Berk:
The main setting of the stories and franchise and home to all the main characters. Berk is described by Hiccup to be “twelve days north of hopeless, a few degrees south of freezing to death", and "solidly located on the meridian of misery”. In short, it’s not a place you’d want to visit. Winter weather lasts most of the year with only three months of nice weather—if you don’t mind it hailing almost every day.
Although Berk’s exact location is never said, it’s seen on Stoick’s map to be near the northern tip of the world, and they are able to see an aurora during the night time. There are many islands surrounding Berk, such as Dragon Island, Outcast Island, Breakneck Bog, and many other unnamed islands. More of these islands will be explored in the sequels and TV show.

The Great Hall (Meade Hall)

The grand meeting, dining, and recreational place of Berk. It’s seen in the movie to be a place where Stoick holds war meetings, but it’s also seen in “Gift of the Night Fury” to be a place where the villagers meet during a crisis, and apparently where the annual Snoggletog party was held. For the most part, though, the Great Hall is used as a dining hall as there are many tables within it and there are people seen eating in there often.

The Haddock House

Where Stoick and Hiccup reside and the highest set up house on the island.

Its located next to the Great Hall and—unlike most houses on Berk—has two stories. It's probably the largest house on the island.

The interior has been a mystery for most of the franchise until Riders of Berk, even though Hiccup's room is clearly shown where Stoick sleeps is a bit of a mystery. There does seem to be a back room that is never shown, so he might sleep there when he hasn't fallen asleep in his chair.

Inside the Haddock House

 Hiccup’s Room
Seen in “Gift of the Night Fury” and later in Riders of Berk. Hiccup’s room is on the upper level of the Haddock House, and is filled with drawings of dragons and small inventions that Hiccup has made himself. His night stand also seems to have a lot of (paint) brushes and charcoal pencils on it.

His room seems to have differences in appearance in Gift of the Night Fury and Riders of Berk. In Riders of Berk Hiccup's room is noticeably bigger, features a drawing desk similar to the one in his workshop, has two huge windows on each side for Toothless to enter and exit as he pleases, and has a large wooden elevation for Toothless to sleep on. All of which, weren't present in Gift of the Night Fury.

The Plaza

A central meeting place on Berk for people to sell their items and food around the village as well as just congregate and socialize.

Gobber’s Blacksmithing Forge
Gobber’s home and place of business. Gobber owns and runs Berk’s only blacksmithing and repair forge. It’s seen during the first movie to be the go-to place to get weapons fixed. After the events of the movie, though, no one had any need to be making or using their weapons, temporarily putting the forge out of business. In the episode Viking for Hire Gobber's workshop also becomes a dentistry/doctor for dragons alongside him still making weapons for defensive purposes.

Hiccup’s Workshop

Located inside of Gobber’s Forge, Hiccup has his own small workshop where he posts his sketches of inventions, and later, dragons on the walls. There’s a bookshelf (most likely filled with his previous sketch books), and lots of model inventions and drawing utensils everywhere—much like Hiccup’s room.

Hiccup seems to have moved his workshop into his room, post-movie though. Since he now has a similar drawing desk in his room in Riders of Berk.

The Kill Ring/Dragon Academy
The place where all dragon training takes place but also a sort of prison for captured dragons. The Kill Ring is a big, dome like center that’s chained off at the top to prevent the dragons from escaping. The Vikings also gather around the Kill Ring to watch the dragon training or watch the top trainer kill their first dragon—which is typically a Monstrous Nightmare.
After the events of the movie--in Riders of Berk--the Kill Ring is turned into "Berk's Dragon Training Academy". The ring is also used for Berk's annual Thawfest games in which the chain close offs are taken off of the dugout.

Berk’s Docks
The boating docks used to board, load, and unload the Viking’s ships before and after they depart. It’s a mega-ramping system that swerves down the side of the cliffs to the waterside.

The Cove
Where Toothless was stranded during the first movie and located in Raven Point Forest. It’s a secluded clearing in the wooded area with a fish filled lake in the center. Hiccup and Toothless spent a majority of their time in the first movie tucked away in the Cove perfecting their flying skills and building their friendship.

As revealed in The Terrible Twos Hiccup and Toothless still visit the cove, post-movie, and in We are Family, Part 1 that the other teens--besides Astrid--have all visited the Cove.

Raven Point
A range of wooded highlands right behind the Isle of Berk. The forest and the Cove are a part of Raven Point.

The forest is the host to many wild and even unknown dragon species.

Dragon Island
A massive volcano centered in a thick of rocky pillars and foggy banks and the former home to many of Berk’s resident dragons. The dragons lived and nested inside the volcano and were controlled by the only Seadragonus Giganticus Maximus (Green Death) residing in the pack.
After the Green Death was killed the dragons came to live in Berk, so Dragon Island is abandoned.
Inside the Dragon's Nest

Helheim’s Gate
A foggy bank that surrounds the Dragon’s Nest. Most Viking ships get lost and/or destroyed in the fog, and it’s believed that dragons hide in this fog and attacked oncoming intruders.

It's also possible that the fog was a direct result of the dragons being there, because in Alvin and the Outcasts when the dragons return to Dragon Island, the fog is no longer seen.

The Rookery
Seen in Gift of the Night Fury, it’s a small, rocky island atop an underwater volcano. It’s the dragon’s new nesting grounds where they all lay their eggs and hatch them by having them explode in the many hot springs on the island.

Mildew's House

Mildew's residence is oddly located behind the Great Hall. He uses the open space to grow cabbages, but it's supposed that he was put back there for stirring up too much trouble around Berk. His house, unlike most houses on Berk, the interior is made out of a lot of stone.

In We are Family, Part 1 and 2 Mildew leaves his house abandoned, and it's unlikely he'll return any time soon.

Gothi's House

The elder Gothi's house. It sits over Berk on wooden stilts.

The Outcasts Lands

The banishing grounds of Alvin and his followers "the outcasts". Like Berk used to be, the Outcast Lands, too, are plagued by dragon raids from packs of wild dragons.

The actual terrain is rather dry, dead, and rocky, making it very hard to navigate and even more uninviting to sail to.

It's also said that a Loki tree only grows on Outcast Island, which is most likely the leafless trees all over the island. When the bark is burned on a Loki tree, the ash apparently makes a good black dye.

Thor's Beach

A Beach located at the base of Berk that leads out into the North Sea. It's a narrow beach with rocky cliffs surrounding it and is used as a safe haven in the episode Alvin and the Outcasts.

Breakneck Bog

In a cluster of islands that from far away look like a man's hand...Breakneck Bog is the thumb. It's supposedly haunted by a mysterious fog monster. Many ships have said to have gone there and none return.

Despite the other islands within the area seeming find, Breakneck Bog is the only one that seems to have a mist of fog over it most times of the day. This is because it has a rather large population of Smothering Smokebreath dragons residing there.
