Trader Johann is a traveling merchant that appeared in the Riders of Berk episode Dragon Flower. He has an agreement with Stoick that he can dock on Berk whenever he makes his rounds through the Northern Sea. He is always willing to give away his trades as along as someone has something of equal value for it.
The only person who apparently gets free merchandise is Stoick, for all Johann wants from the chief is his "good graces". He seems to have a rather friendly relationship with the villagers so it's implied he's been coming to Berk for years, having a friendship with Bucket, Hiccup, and even an agreement with Mildew for his cabbages.

Johann is obviously not a Viking, and wears clothing that is typical to that of more Middle Eastern lands, but yet he speaks with a more English accent. So, either his well traveled nature has allowed his influence or he's multiracial. He also travels alone, which is quite dangerous, but Johann is tough, as he speaks of wrestling a Colossal Squid to get ink for Hiccup.
Johann returns in Breakneck Bog when he finds a special dragon doll made for Hiccup by his mother and tries to return it to Stoick. Unfortunately, along the way, his ship is taken by the mysterious "fog monster" that resides on Breackneck Bog (which turns out to be a smothering smokebreath dragon). He seemed outright spooked by the fog and refused to go back even to get his ship. He teens did, of course, get his ship back and it's assumed he left a few days later to finish his Northern route.
