Hiccup's Ink Drawing of Toothless
On the docks, Bucket spots a familiar boat coming into port and announces in excitement that Trader Johann has arrived. Everyone comes to the dock, happy that Johann--a traveling trader who makes his rounds on Berk frequently--is back with many new and exotic foreign items. Gobber in particular is enamored with purple silk skivvies (underwear), as Fishlegs traders a baby dragon tooth necklace to get a botany book.
Hiccup eyes another bottle of ink from a colossal squid and hops to trade a spyglass that he made himself for it, but Johann has already gotten many other spy glasses from Hiccup in trade, and requests something different. Hiccup then offers a wench to help Johann pull up his gangplank and Johann happily takes the trade in helping aid his shoulder, tired out from work.
Stoick fancies and sword, while trying it out, and explains that he's going to use the sword as a gift to the chief of the Shivering Shores as he's going there for a yearly meeting and claims that the last man that showed up without a gift "left without a head". Johann is happy to give Stoick the sword without trade, only asking for his good graces when he passes through Berk.
Trader Johann's ship
Stoick flies off and Johann is amazed at men actually riding dragons. Mildew then comes up asking if Johann brought what he asked for, as he brought some cabbages to trade with Johann.
Afterwards, Johann is a tad annoyed by a terrible terror that is sniffing through his supplies and flicks the dragon away. Toothless sees this as the threat and lunges towards Johann, knocking over Hiccup's bottle of ink in the process. Hiccup is able to get Toothless away from Johann but unfortunately the ink bottle was the last Johann had at the moment.
Later at the training academy Ruffnut and Tuffnut are putting up some bulky statues that they got from Johann by trading their great grandfather's skull. Hiccup is delighted that they're taking more pride in fixing the academy up a bit, but unfortunately they're only using the statues for target practice and everyone begins shooting fire at them recklessly. Toothless wants to play along as well, but sneezes just as he's shooting his shot and misses completely, narrowly missing Snotlout in the process. This confuses Hiccup as he's never really seen Toothless sneeze before, or have such inaccuracy.
Toothless getting sicker
At the Haddock House, Gobber is making Toothless some kind of medicine over the fire, saying it'll "fix him right up", but Toothless seems allergic to that as well, and just sneezes again. Astrid bursts in, calling Hiccup outside to see that all the other riders are having problems with their dragons. One by one the dragons lose control and fall out of the sky, and it's obvious whatever Toothless has is spreading.
Gothi the doctor
The next day Hiccup has the village put the new things they got from Johann into a pit on Thor's Beach to help out the dragons until they can find the source of the problem. Gobber even has to give up his comfy silk skivvies.
That afternoon, the dragons are still pretty sick, and getting even worse. Toothless doesn't want to go flying, Stormfly's shooting darts uncontrollably, Meatlug is farting, and apparently Hookfang was throwing up while Barf and Belch just lay there. All the teens are worried for their dragons and are mad that they're still getting sicker, meaning someone didn't give up what they got from Johann.
Stoick returns to see all the teens sad and all the dragnos sick, and soon Thornado catches the sickness as well. They retrace Stoick and Thornado's steps and can't find a single thing that could've made him sick until Hiccup spots the bush of flowers that Astrid saw earlier. They weren't there a few days ago. Fishleg's recognizes the flowers from his botany book and says they're the Blue Oleander flower, which is poisonous to reptiles, he doesn't remember a cure though, since he didn't get to finish reading the book as he had to throw it in the pit. Hiccup tells him to go dig it back up.
The Blue Oleander
Tuffnut claims that Mildew planted those flowers, and Hiccup, Astrid, and Stoick immediately go over to Mildew's house to question him. Mildew admits immediately to planting the flowers but claims to have no "inkling" that the flowers had "special properties". Sadly they can't really prove what Mildew's true intentions were with the evidence they have and they have to drop the accusation that he intentionally planted them to harm the dragons.
Fishlegs returns with the botany book and says that there isn't a cure in there but the Book of Dragons claims that a scauldron does feed on the blue oleander that the find one that eats some, it's venom can be used as a cure. But apparently the Book says that the scauldron has no venom. Gobber immediately corrects this fact and says that the scauldron does, in fact, have venom. That's all the convincing Hiccup needs and he rounds up Stoick and Gobber to go out to sea in search of a scauldron.
"No Venom!"
They all have a good plan in how to lore the dragon into the boat by dropping some blue oleanders into the water and drain the venom into a bucket once the scauldron is secured.
Once the scauldron appears it's already proven to be more to handle than they can handle as it raises the boat out of the water, causing everyone to slide to one side. Mildew in particular gets hit with one of the baskets of blue oleanders while the scauldron chomps down on the other baskets. Stoick takes his as an opportunity to bind the dragon down and he and Gobber get to work on it.
The dragon is angered by this and flips is tail over, whacking Sven completely out of the boat and Stoick has to abandon his line to secure the scauldron's tail. Hiccup takes Stoick's line and it's up to Mildew to get the bucket filled with the venom (a job that was previously Hiccup's). Before Mildew can do anything, though, the scauldron begins to spray boiling water and everyone has to abandon their post to avoid getting scorched.
the Scauldron's last bite
With the dragon unbound it breaks free and goes back into the water, but not before getting a nip at the last blue oleander on the boat, which happens to be stuck to the back of Mildew's belt. It gets the flower and goes back into the water.
Everyone is saddened that they didn't receive the venom until they look at Mildew who is paralyzed because the scauldron took a nip at his butt while getting the flower, and thus the venom is inside Mildew.
Back on Berk, Gobber extracts the venom--rather painfully--from Mildew while the teens wait outside, listening to Mildew screaming but they can't hide being happy.
