Hookfang

Snotlout’s male Monstrous Nightmare. He is seen in Gift of the Night Fury to have at least one baby. His mate is not seen.

Hookfang "biting" Snotlout.

He was captured and kept in the Kill Ring in the movie and used for dragon training before taking her first flight with Snotlout to go fight the Green Death. Hookfang was the "final exam" dragon in the movie and whomever made it as the best in the class was supposed to kill him.

In Riders of Berk it's best described that Hookfang likes to keep Snotlout under the illusion that he's being trained. 

Hookfang enjoys pushing Snotlout's buttons such as flying sporadically against Snotlout's wishes and biting him "affectionately". Despite this, Hookfang does seem to love Snotlout and shows him non-painful affection just as often--though this is usually in private since Snotlout get's easily embarrassed.

Though in episodes such as Heather Report, Part 2 and Thawfest Hookfang does show cooperation and even interests in Snotlout's personality issues (Thawfest). Yet in others, especially in In Dragons We Trust Hookfang seems rather distracted in which naturally forgetting Snotlout's there. And it seems that Hookfang has picked up a slight rivalry with Toothless, as Snotlout has with Hiccup.

Hookfang does have a bigger attitude than his rider. He doesn't like being pushed around and when he feels threatened or insulted he'll just fly away, as shown in Heather Report, Part 1.
