Astrid’s female Deadly Nadder, and is currently the only other dragon seen to have any kind of friendly contact with Toothless. It’s assumed that Stormfly and Toothless have developed a sort of friendship mainly because their riders—Hiccup and Astrid—are close.
Stormfly was locked up in Berk to be a part of Dragon Training in the first movie, but bonded with Astrid after the battle with the Green Death. In Gift of the Night Fury Stormfly appears to have three baby dragons, their names and genders are unknown at the moment.
In Riders of Berk Stormfly is described to be a full extension of Astrid's personality. She's extremely powerful yet graceful at the same time. In most episodes both Astrid and Stormfly can be seen as doing some of the hardest work, and constantly training and perfecting themselves. This pays off in the Heather Report, Part 1 when Stormfly--despite not being considered a fast dragon in the Book of Dragons--starts to come closer to besting even Hiccup and Toothless in speed.
It's revealed that not only does Astrid practice a lot with Stormfly, but she also has a special diet for her, that being her consuming a lot of chicken that apparently gives her a boost of speed.
Although Astrid and Stormfly are very close, Stormfly apparently isn't too tied to her that she doesn't make friends with other humans that are nice to her. Such as in Heather Report, Part 1 and 2, Stormfly is seen to trust and let Heather ride her, in part 2 even without her being fed chicken beforehand.
