Overview:
Gift of the Night Fury is the direct-to-DVD holiday short in the Dreamwork's Dragons franchise. The short film serves as a post-movie bridge between the first movie and the upcoming TV series due fall 2012. It was released on DVD and Blu-Ray November 15th, 2011 alongside the Book of Dragons short. The short brings all of the original cast for the characters and earned positive reviews as well as a spot on the top 10 DVD purchases and rentals on it's premier week.
Description:
Months after the events of the first movie, the Vikings of Berk are now living peacefully with dragons. The village is the in middle of preparing for their annual winter holiday, Snoggletog, but the celebration is tarnished when all of the dragons suddenly fly off--except for Toothless who is still unable to fly on his own.
Feeling sad and guilty for Toothless's inablity to fly, Hiccup builds Toothless a new tail that allows him to fly on his own, but Toothless flies off unexpectedly as soon as Hiccup puts his new tail on. Three days later, Hiccup discovers that Fishlegs has chained up his dragon--Meatlug--and Meatlug breaks free, taking Hiccup with her.
While Hicccup discovers the Rookery--the island all the dragons flew off to--and that the dragons are actually nesting and having babies, Astrid and the other Viking teens try to bring holiday cheer back to Berk while planting Meatlug's unhatched eggs as gifts.
