Legend of the Boneknapper Dragon is a post-movie short film that was released alongside the How to Train Your Dragon DVD and Blu-Ray release on October 15th, 2010. But, the short aired one day before it's DVD release in a special premier on Cartoon Network on October 14th, 2010 part of the "Dragon Weekend" block. The short brings all of it's original cast back as the characters. It earned mixed reviews by critics and mostly fans due to it's over usage of slapstick comedy rather than the emotion and heart the first movie utilized.
Description:
Shortly after the events of the first movie, Gobber's house catches fire from what he believes is another attack from a fierce Boneknapper Dragon, which he believes has been trying to kill him his whole life. Despite the village not believing any of Gobber's stories about the Boneknapper Hiccup, and the rest of the Viking teens decide to accompany Gobber as they sail to find the Boneknapper. But the tables turn when they become shipwrecked instead.
